Creating a water-wise garden in Central Texas is really the only viable option due to our frequent droughts and little rainfall.

Luckily there are plenty of beautiful plants and landscaping options to have a tranquil ‘less thirsty’ garden.

In this edition of “Out in the Garden,” YNN’s Donna Friedenreich talks with Monica Gaylord, a gardener who has mastered the understated art of xeriscaping. Her garden has Texas native plants like knockout roses, succulents and cacti. Also, she has plenty of accent pieces like rocks and stone, which of course, require zero watering.

Take a look inside Gaylord’s heat-friendly garden in the video above.
