Last week on “Out in the Garden,” we talked about the importance that host plants have when starting a butterfly garden.

The other type of plants needed is the ‘nectar plant.’ Nectar plants produce the nectar which butterflies feed on. They also use these plants to rest on when not flying.

Liz McVeety with the Zilker Botanical Garden said butterflies prefer flowers which lay rather flat. That gives the butterfly a comfortable place land.
