With ongoing drought conditions in Central Texas, rainwater is ever more precious. Make the most of it in your yard by planting a rain garden.

Kristin Pipkin with the Watershed Protection Department said a rain garden captures rain runoff, keeping it on the land instead of allowing it to wash down a storm drain.

Rain gardens help conserve water through natural irrigation and will also naturally cleanse runoff water as it seeps through the soil.
