Thousands of people and their dogs strutted their stuff for a good cause Saturday morning.
It’s called the Mighty Texas Dog Walk and participants were also trying to break the current world record for walking dogs.
“We’ve actually won the Guinness World Record two times for the largest Dog Walk and our arch-nemesis England has the current record,” Texas Hearing and Service Dogs spokesperson, Sheri Soltes said. “So, in order to put them back in their place and fetch that world record back, we literally need everyone and their dogs to come out and participate.”
The record -- held by an organization in the United Kingdom -- currently stands at 10,272 dogs.
Participants in the event said it’s just a fun event for the whole family, including your dogs.
“I love seeing every size, shape and color of dog imaginable, and families are together walking their dogs,” participant Chris Hyatt said.
The walk benefits the nonprofit organization Texas Hearing and Service Dogs. For more information about them, check out servicedogs.org.
