Fireworks and thunderstorms can make the summer months a little stressful for pets, but there are products on the market that claim to offer relief.
In this edition of "Pet Pointers," Lisa Chelenza tested out the following stress-relieving pet products with the help of her dog, Ernie:
-The “Thunder-shirt” retails at about $40. The patent-pending design hugs your dog to provide constant comfort and reduce anxious behavior.
-Sentry “Stop That” noise and pheromone spray can be used to stop your pet's negative behaviors, like non-stop barking, aggressive reactions, clawing at carpets or jumping. The spray produces a loud hiss that disrupts your pet's negative behavior, and the pheromones help to reduce the pet's agitation.
-Sentry “Calming Collar” is available for dogs and cats. The patent-pending product claims to mimic the pheromones mothers give off to calm their offspring. The manufacturer cautions that some dogs could take a month the see improvement and training should also be used in conjunction with the collar.
Keep in mind that every animal is different, and you may have to try several products before you find one that works best for your pet.
