The Austin Animal Center and the Town Lake Animal Shelter are both offering free pet adoptions Thursday. All adoptions include spaying and neutering, a microchip and vaccinations, all valued at more than $200.

Officials say they hope the promotion will give the pets a forever home.

"You know, for people who want a new pet or feel like it's time for them to bring that new family member in. [We want] to make sure they know we are and were available and make sure they know we have plenty of animals looking for a good home," spokesperson Phillip Goen said.

Both centers are open from 11a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday. For more information visit Austinanimalcenter.org.
