Best known for their energetic personality, the modern “min pin” is said to be a mix of several breeds including the Italian greyhound and German pointer, giving them the perfect combination of speed and tenacity to be prized as ratters by farmers in Germany hundreds of years ago.
Leah Pekarsky has been involved with miniature pinscher rescue for more than 10 years.
“They are so feisty and so much fun they are always clowning around and always up for anything and they are super smart. Mine wakes up every day and thinks ‘what can I get away with today?’” she said.
Min pins need physical and mental exercise and are at their best with a daily walk and a few minutes of obedience training or playtime every day.
Remember, never choose a pet on looks! Be sure your personalities are a match so you and your pet will live a happy fun filled life together.
