Austin Energy is experiencing a delay in building the nation's biggest solar array in the country. The location's construction was halted after a cemetery and creek were discovered on the site grounds.

Austin Business Journal Editor Colin Pope said the cemetery in Webbervile was not originally noticed by Austin Energy officials. Now historical and environmental research must be done before it is allowed to open.

Although the facility was set to open in December of this year, it is now predicted to begin generating power in 2011.

"It does take a little bit of time," Pope said. "It kind of puts a cramp in Austin Energy's long-term going green plan for solar energy."

Pope further discussed the development with News 8 Austin's Paul Brown more during the Business Connection.
