Students at Canyon Lake and Wimberley High Schools turned their rivalry into an opportunity to give back Friday night.

There’s always a sense of competition when two schools come together for a game.

When Canyon Lake Hawks and the Wimberley Texans met on the field, the stands were filled with more than just their school's colors.

Wimberley High School Student Thomas Serna said he was good enough with pink to be completely doused in it. He was painted in pink, there was pink on the field and there was pink in the stands.

The students worked together to raise awareness and bring neighboring schools together to do some good off the field.

"We wanted to do something else to help when we heard that Canyon Lake was doing this. We decided that you know this is something else that we can help out on," Wimberley High student Brenna Sturdivant said.

Even the mascot got in on the pink out. Over a week, during breaks and at lunch, the students from both schools were able to raise more than $1,500.

Tune in each Thursday as our Russell Wilde travels through the state visiting the people and places that make Texas unique.
