Honoring the U.S.A. comes first on Friday nights.

During a short two-minute pause, before each football game, fans and players on both sides of the field come together to sing the National Anthem.

In Lockhart, the Junior ROTC presents the colors.

“Think about all the men and women who have given up their lives to protect and serve this country," Jr. ROTC member Matthew Pena said.

It’s a message that resonates with everyone, including students.

"There are people out there sacrificing and giving the ultimate sacrifice. We need to respect that and give back to them. Just give a moment of silence and think back on what they gave for you," Lockhart Student Justin Barabash said.

The Lockhart Jr. ROTC will spend Friday, Veterans Day, placing flags on the graves of fallen heroes throughout Caldwell County.

Tune in each Thursday as our Russell Wilde travels through the state visiting the people and places that make Texas unique.
