Austin police have identified the suspect in Friday morning’s officer-involved shooting as 26-year-old Mark Guard. Authorities say Guard was shooting a gun in an East Austin parking lot in the early morning hours. When officers arrived on scene, Guard pointed the gun at them, causing Officer Robert Barger to fire his weapon. No one was injured in the incident and Guard is now in custody.

A house fire in Spicewood Thursday night has now turned into a double homicide investigation. Authorities say 42-year-old Dorrina Ruth Reese and 30-year-old Thomas Edward Wells were discovered inside the burned residence, along with weapons and additional evidence. Three people are currently in custody for their deaths, and the State Fire Marshal’s Office has launched its own investigation into the suspected arson involved in the case.

Gov. Perry will tour the devastation in North Texas Friday afternoon, several days after 16 tornadoes ripped through the area during Wednesday night storms. One twister, registering as a E-F4, killed at least six people. The governor will visit Granbury, where nearly 100 homes were damaged or destroyed. Granbury is located about 40 miles southwest of Fort Worth.

The official cause off the fire which sparked last month’s deadly blast in West is currently undetermined, ATF special agent Robert Champion said at a news conference Thursday afternoon. Investigators have ruled out all but three possible causes: the fertilizer's electrical system, a golf cart kept near the fire's ignition point and arson.
