Hasan deemed fit to stand trial
Accused Fort Hood shooter Maj. Nidal Hasan has been deemed sane and fit to stand trial.

Hasan's attorney and Fort Hood officials have been tight lipped about the results of a mental health evaluation of Hasan, which was handed over to his attorney Friday.

According to the San Antonio Express News, the Army's “sanity board” determined Hasan is fit to face trial. The paper received the information from a source close to the case.

Hasan's lawyer wouldn't confirm the results, but hinted they do go against his client.

The former Army psychiatrist faces 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder for the 2009 shootings at Fort Hood.

The special court martial convening authority in the case is scheduled to meet with the defense Feb. 23.
