In a weekly showdown between the top makeup effects artists in the nation, Austin's Matt Valentine works his magic under immediate deadlines.

“The time limit that you’re given is ridiculous. No makeup artist can work under these conditions but you’re forced to create your most extravagant, conceptually amazing designs within a short time span,” he said.

Valentine has been a hit, wining challenges on Syfy's "Face Off" in back-to-back episodes.

His specialty isn't making people beautiful. Instead, his style brings the glamour to gruesome.

“It’s unleashing these horrific atrocities upon humanity,” he said.

Building on his background of haunted productions, Valentine recently founded Global Fear Enterprises with his brother and cousin. It's a horror multimedia effects endeavor where the family business is creating unimaginable fear.

“If you don’t know actually what it is, your mind can’t compute what it’s seeing. That’s what fear would be and that’s the ideas we’re trying to create and that’s what’s so scary about it,” Michael Faust said.

Valentine competes on "Face Off" Wednesday night's on Syfy. As for Global Fear Enterprises, the next stop is the Transworld Haunters Convention, the nation’s biggest for the Halloween and haunt industry.
