This year’s Round Rock Fourth of July parade featured an extra portion of national pride-an Olympian who calls the city home.
Round Rock's city council welcomed Michael Tinsley aboard their float in the annual parade.
Tinsley will compete for Team USA in the 400-meter hurdles event at this summer's Olympics.
"I live in Round Rock, so I'm just coming out to support the community and be a part of the parade and see some people and meet some new fans hopefully," Tinsley said.
After training for the Olympics for years, Tinsley earned his trip to London with a come-from-behind win against Angelo Taylor, the 2008 Gold medal winner.
"I saw some of the guys tightening up, I just went to pumping my arms as hard as I could. Once I seen that I had passed everyone, I just had so much energy inside and I just exploded. I came through the line in first. It was the best feeling I ever felt running track." Tinsley said.
Going into the biggest race of his life, Tinsley said he's focused on bringing some gold back to Round Rock.
"As long as I go out and prepare and run my race like I know how," Tinsley said. "I think I can come out with a victory."
