Abdo sentencing postponed until Friday

Sentencing for the former Army soldier convicted of plotting to blow up a Killeen restaurant has been postponed until Friday morning.
In May, Naser Jason Abdo was convicted of six charges, including attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction.
Abdo, who is representing himself in federal court, said he was not properly notified about the hearing. He also told the court he needs more time to prepare a statement for the hearing.
The 22-year-old soldier based in Fort Campbell, Ky. went AWOL in the summer of 2011. When a gun shop owner in Killeen had a strange encounter with Abdo in his store, he notified police.
Authorities say a raid of Abdo’s motel room found bomb-making materials, and a plot was revealed that the soldier had planned to blow up a Chinese restaurant frequented by Fort Hood soldiers.
Abdo’s hearing is now slated for 9 a.m. Friday.
