A San Marcos neighborhood has a new look and attitude.
After three years, the Rio Vista Terrace Improvements Project is complete. The project spruced up part of the city with new streets, improved drainage, curbs and beautification.
This is the first major upgrade the Rio Vista neighborhood has had since it was developed in the 1940s.
"It's increasing a lot of the pedestrian activity, getting people out of their houses, spending more time getting to the park, walking around the neighborhood and seeing their neighbor,” San Marcos City Engineer Jennifer Shell said. “It's really improving the lifestyle of the neighborhood."
To celebrate the new look, the city is celebrating with an ice cream social Thursday evening at the San Marcos Nature Center.
