Travis County Sheriff’s deputies arrested 52-year-old Robert Franco Jr. Monday night after they say he murdered his father.
According to a Roger Wade, a spokesperson with the Travis County Sheriff’s Office, Franco's wife walked into the Lago Police Department just before 10 p.m. Monday and said her husband had killed his father.
Lago Vista police and Travis County deputies went to the house along the 6000 block of Cimarron Trail and found the body of 82-year-old Roberto Franco Sr. His son, Franco Jr., was arrested at the scene.
Wade said detectives used evidence found at the scene to determine that Franco Jr. had killed his father by repeatedly stabbing him. Wade also said he was attempting to move his father’s body when deputies arrived on scene.
While in custody, Franco Jr. said he had argued with his father about the water bill and admitted to stabbing him several times. Franco Jr. also told police he was trying to get his father's body into the back of his pickup truck when police arrived.
Franco Jr. has been charged with first-degree murder and is being held in the Travis County Jail on $300,000 bond.
