Becky Motal, the general manager of the Lower Colorado River Authority, announced Wednesday that she will be retiring at the end of the year, according to an LCRA spokesperson.
Motal took over as GM of LCRA on July 2, 2011 after working in the water management agency for more than 20 years. Her time as general manager has been marked by periods of intense drought.
A press release announcing her departure said that while she is retiring from the LCRA, she will continue to work.
“I want to look for new opportunities and new challenges,” Motal said.
The LCRA’s board has begun the process of replacing Motal.
