On Sept. 24, your morning cup of joe could help improve the life of a local musician.
The Health Alliance for Austin Musicians, or HAAM, helps uninsured, low-income musicians have access to affordable health care. During HAAM Benefit Day, 250 businesses will donate 5 percent of every purchase to the nonprofit.
The event is in its eighth year.
“This is one of the easiest days of the year to give back,” HAAM Executive Director Carolyn Schwarz said. “You can do your normal thing, you can go to Whole Foods Market and shop, you can go get a sub at Thundercloud Subs. You get to hear live music so you’re entertained. You put a little extra in our donation box, and you've given back.”
On top of it all, there will be plenty of live music around town while you shop. There’s also a special show at ACL Live featuring Ray Benson, Jimmie Vaughan and other local favorites.
