Even though East Austin is exploding, there's a pretty big stretch of land that has been mostly hands-off so far, but that could change soon.
Capital Metro recently issued a request for a 10-acre stretch of undeveloped land it owns near the Plaza Saltillo station along the Red Line commuter rail. The request allows developers to tell Capital Metro what they would do with the land before Capital Metro leases it out.
Austin Business Journal Editor Colin Pope says that when the land does lease, it will likely become a mixed-use development, meaning it will host a mix of living and commercial spaces.
