In this most recent conflict in Iraq and Afghanistan, more than 1,400 wounded warriors are now amputees, 30 percent of them have lost multiple limbs. Five years ago, a rehab facility known as the Center for the Intrepid opened its doors at Fort Sam Houston. As part of our "Healing Heroes" series, YNN’s Chie Saito tells us why for many of these soldiers, surviving is just the beginning.

A military judge set a hearing next week to consider Maj. Nidal Hasan's request to delay the trial. It's unclear why defense attorneys want more time or if they're proposing a new date. The high-profile military trial is expected to last about two months at Fort Hood.

Judge won't step down in Fort Hood shooting case

Maj. Nidal Hasan's lawyers argued Wednesday that because the military judge overseeing the case, Col. Gregory Gross, was on post the day of the shootings, the appearance of bias is possible. Gross countered that her was overseeing a trial on that day and news of the shooting had little effect on him.
