Michael Phelps began his weekend in Austin with a victory in the 100 butterfly and a consolation win in the 100 freestyle at the Austin Grand Prix.
Former Longhorn Ricky Berens placed second in the finals of the 100 freestyle, behind Nathan Adrian. Another former Horn, Dave Walters, finished fifth in the same race.
Janet Evans continued her comeback to competitive swimming in the 400 freestyle, posting an Olympic Trials qualifying time.
The Austin Grand Prix continues at the Jamail Swimming Center Saturday and Sunday.
