Some Central Texans gave their all Labor Day morning to compete in the TriRock Austin Triathlon.

More than 2,000 athletes took on the course near Lady Bird Lake. One couple said they wouldn't want to spend the holiday any other way.

It was a race to the finish line, and among the first wave of athletes, Jamie Cleveland came out on top.

"We're all out here to challenge ourselves internally, and for me that's the biggest thing, whether I'm first or whether I'm 101," Cleveland said. "It's getting out and pushing myself and knowing that I didn't back down, and I gave it my all."

It's that same feeling of satisfaction Cleveland's wife Andrea Fisher had. She was the first female to cross the finish line in her group.

"This is a tradition in Austin. Memorial and Labor Day weekend, we have the great races down here, and it's great to come out and be with the athletes and do something that you love," Fisher said.

The athletic couple enjoyed the fruits of their Labor Day together.

"It's good. It's a good little family win. So, we'll definitely go and celebrate later for sure," Fisher said.
