MANOR -- A hungry group of Manor Mustangs has been fueled this offseason by memories of last season's impressive run to the Class 4A state semifinals.
The trip to the state semis was the furthest any team has advanced in school history, ending with a loss to CenTex foe Cedar Park.
Manor brings back 11 starters from last year's 11-4 squad. Head coach Sadd Jackson and company will rely on Del Valle transfer Denzel Feaster to play quarterback. The state title game was so close they could taste it last year and now they want more.
"It's like you go to a restaurant and you smell food inside and then all of a sudden they close it and you were hungry to go in and eat," Jackson said. "Same thing with playing in the playoffs, when you get close to it and being in the state championship game and you don't get a chance to do it, it makes you hungry."
Manor begins the season at Waco University August 31.
