Austin Aztex forward Max Griffin is having a breakthrough season with results that have earned him some new attention.

Adrian Heath is the Aztex’s head coach.

"He's suddenly started to put a few goals to the hard work he has done all season. Nothing catches the eye more in football than scoring goals," he said.

Griffin scored five goals last month, including the first hat trick in Aztex history. He was voted the USSF Division-2 Professional League June Player of the Month, and the Aztex finished first in their conference.

"We're at the top of the table right now," Griffin said. "And I feel like we just have some more momentum now to keep going forward and keep getting some wins."

Griffin is regarded as a smart player who works well with his team mates, but he does have some sibling rivalry on the roster.

Max's brother Leonard is an Aztex defender. For the first time in their careers, the Griffin brothers are playing on the same team. The two players engage in some healthy competition with each other on the field.
