In a normal college football season, most teams play a few games to start the year in preparation for conference games, the ones that really matter. But this is not a normal season for Texas State. They have no conference.
The Bobcats are in a strange limbo between the Southland, which they had played in for years, and the WAC, which they'll join when they go Division One next year.....
For this season though, Texas State has no true conference....
The Cats got their first win of the season over the weekend against Tarleton State....
They'll play a Southland schedule the majority of the way, which they start this week at Stephen F. Austin, but Texas State isn't technically allowed to win the conference....
It's a bizarre situation for the team....
