Perez Hilton’s ‘One Night in Austin’ raises $53K for charity

Saturday marked the sixth annual “One Night in Austin” party, hosted by celebrity blogger Perez Hilton. This year, ticket sales raised $53,000 for VH1 Save the Music, a nonprofit benefiting music education and GLSEN, the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network, a nonprofit promoting tolerance within schools with regards to sexual orientation.

Gary Clark Jr. takes home top honors at Austin Music Awards

The Austin Music Awards symbolizes the start of the SXSW Music Conference, and the 31st show went off without a hitch Wednesday evening. Texas musicians--from Alejandro Escovedo to Bill Carter--lit up the stage of downtown's Austin Music Hall. Local favorite Gary Clark Jr. claimed a handful of top honors, including Musician of the Year, Best Male Vocals and Album of the Year.
