Police say Fred Yazdi fatally shot a 23-year-old man who approached Yazdi's Avery Ranch home early Friday morning. Officials say they don't think the men knew each other, and investigators are still trying to put all the pieces together. Yazdi is being held at the Williamson County jail on $250,000 bail.

In a letter to Spicewood Beach customers, the LCRA asks residents to only bathe on “special occasions,” and to take short showers and wash dishes only when the washer is full, among other water-conservation tips. The urgency comes after the LCRA enacted Stage 4 water restrictions for the area last month, when the community’s wells began drying up at a rapid rate.

A woman who played soccer for the University of Texas Longhorns is in critical but stable condition after being struck by a car early Friday morning. The driver fled the scene, but was apprehended just blocks away. Police have charged 22-year-old Nicolas Colunga with intoxication assault.
