Colton Pitonyak will go to trial sometime next year for the murder of Jennifer Cave, 21.

The date for trial was set in court on Wednesday.

Colton Pitonyak is accused of murdering Cave and then mutilating her body in her West Campus area apartment in August 2005.

Cave’s family was alerted and she was reported missing when she didn’t show up for work at a new job.

Pitonyak's pre-trial hearing is scheduled for Dec. 8. The actual trial is expected to begin Jan. 22.
