Gag order sought in Laura Hall case

By: News 8 Austin Staff

Lawyers for the woman who fled to Mexico with the man who killed Jennifer Cave in 2005 are seeking a gag order in her case.

Laura Hall is charged with hindering Colton Pitonyak's arrest.

The gag order would keep lawyers from commenting on the case outside of court.

District Judge Wilford Flowers has set a hearing for the request on Friday.

Hall appeared in court for a pre-trial hearing Monday.

Last month, a jury sentenced Pitonyak to 55 years in prison for Jennifer Cave’s murder. Her dismembered body was found in his west campus area apartment in August 2005.

During Pitonyak's trial, defense lawyers accused Hall of playing a major role in the cover-up of Cave's murder. Because of that, Hall may now face more serious charges, including evidence tampering.
