Laura Hall trial delayed for two more months

By: News 8 Austin Staff

The trial of Laura Hall was delayed again Monday until more evidence can arrive.

Hall is the woman accused of helping convicted murderer Colton Pitonyak flee across the Texas border into Mexico two years ago, after he killed University of Texas student Jennifer Cave.

Judge Wilford Flowers did not rule on motions by Hall's lawyers to suppress statements she made to police before she was arrested.

He's delaying that decision until July 2. Flowers is waiting for prosecutors to make better copies of the police videotapes of Hall's interviews.

The judge did establish Monday that Hall can be tried on both the charges she faces.

She originally faced a charge of hindering apprehension for helping Colton Pitonyak flee to Mexico after Cave's murder.

She now also faces a charge of tampering with evidence, which may be related to the partial dismemberment of Cave's body after the murder.

Hall's trial is now set for August 27.
