Hall denied new trial

Hall denied new trial
Laura Hall's appeal for a new trial was denied by a judge on Friday.

Hall's new attorney is appealing the five-year sentence she was given for her part in the murder of Jennifer Cave in 2005. Her attorney's grounds for appeal were the credibility of witnesses who testified against her.

Jennifer Cave's parents, who were present at the hearing, said Judge Wilford Flowers did the right thing.

"We certainly didn't need another one and we have kids that are trying to live lives and we have lives to live so we didn't need this," mother Sharon Cave said.

Hall was found guilty of tampering with Cave's body after Colton Pitonyak murdered her. She was also given one year in prison for helping Pitonyak resist arrest when they fled to Mexico.

Hall appeared next to her attorney in a black-and-white-striped jumpsuit and shackles. She is still being held until bond is posted.

"I am seeing her breaking down horribly and it's not the Laura I know and love, I just want to get her home as soon as I can," her mother Carol Hall said.

Hall's parents say they are still several thousand dollars short of the bond money needed to free her from prison. They say they hope to have the full $15,000 by early next week.
