Puns of fun at O. Henry Pun-Off
There was a man who entered a pun contest and submitted 10 different puns, hoping that at least one would win. Unfortunately, no pun in ten did.
But if you were at the O'Henry Pun-Off on Saturday it's safe to say you had puns of fun.
Every spring since 1978 punsters from across the nation have been gathering in Austin to compete in the annual O. Henry Pun-Off, sponsored by the O. Henry Museum.
Sixty-four pun slingers showed off their "pun"chy way with words.
Pairs of "pun"dits had five seconds each to spit out something "pun"ny.
Those who couldn't "pun"form were "pun"ished with elimination.
"Well, I came in turd place, which was actually a great honor for me. You could say I'm on a roll now. But, I really enjoyed getting up there and throwing puns around," Simon Friedlander said.
The pun-off has been around for 31 years.
Audience members said it's a "pun"derful way to keep Austin weird.
