The Texas Education Agency said even though there is evidence of academic improvement at Pearce Middle School the campus will again rate academically unacceptable this year.

While the campus will stay open under the same leadership, TEA said they ordered some changes.

The changes include requiring the district to provide outside tutors for students and more training for teachers.

The Austin Independent School District and the community have come up with their own plan.

They requested that the middle school be allowed first choice on replacement teachers, that the district provide students with laptops, and that the campus encourage more parental involvement.
