Austin Fashion Week asks, 'Who Wore it Best?'

By: News 8 Austin Staff

Beyond Tradition is a part of Austin's Second Street shopping district and a part of this year's Austin Fashion Week.

Store owner Kappie Bliss showcases beautiful, unique jewelry including pieces by Austin-based jewelry designer Catherine Nicole.

Nicole launched her line in January 2007, and currently she is showcasing her third collection.

"I felt that in a time, with what's going on with the economy, people aren't feeling very glamorous, people haven't been spending,” Nicole said. “So we've been using all of these vintage Chanel chains to glam it up, and get people to come out of their shell.”

Beyond Tradition and Nicole have teamed up this week to promote their contest called, “Who Wore it Best?”

People can come into the store all week long, try on a necklace from Nicole's collection, and take a picture for the contest. At the end of the week, the winner will get a piece of her jewelry.

"It's not limited to grownups or humans,” Bliss said. “It could be a dog or cat. It could be a child. It could be a baby – whoever wore it best.”

Beyond Tradition will be holding other events throughout the week, including special parties Thursday and Friday night when the Second Street District kicks off its big weekend sale.

News 8's Lesley McCaslin will be at different events all week long. Fashion Week wraps up with the Austin Fashion Awards on Sunday night.
