A controversial police shooting was one topic Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo tackled during a weekend forum.
Chief Acevedo was the guest of honor at Sunday’s public affairs forum in North Austin.
He answered questions on various topics, including the case of Nathaniel Sanders. Sanders was shot by an APD officer in May of 2009. Acevedo also talked about the independent report into the shooting and the controversy surrounding it.
Chief Acevedo also told the crowd it's not enough to depend solely on the police department. He urged Austin residents to keep an eye out for suspicious activity where they live.
The meetings are held Sundays from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the First Unitarian Universalist Church on 4700 Grover Ave.
