News 8's Karina Kling filed the following video report.

Democrats are stopping the fight against keeping Green Party candidates from being on the November ballot, a source close to the Democratic Party said.

However, the Texas Democratic Party will continue its lawsuit to find out who paid to help the Green Party get its 90,000 signatures needed to be on the ballot.

“The Texas Democratic Party filed this lawsuit because Texans deserve to know who secretly spent over half a million dollars to influence the 2010 elections," TDP spokesperson Boyd Richie said.

Officials with the Democratic Party said they didn't want to be accused of obstructing voters from choosing their candidate of choice, but encourage Green Party candidates to consider their campaigns.

“Green Party leaders should remember that actions speak louder than words. It is up to the Green Party candidates to decide whether they want to continue candidacies that were bought and paid for by Republicans who hold the Green Party in contempt," Richie said.

Tuesday, a third connection was made in the Green Party/GOP ballot controversy.

According to the Democratic Lone Star Project, a surrendered court-ordered document identifies Anthony Holm as being involved in what the group has called a scandal.

Perry paid the political consulting firm, Patriot Group, at least $90,000 during the current election cycle, according to the Texas Ethics Commission. Holm is the principal of the group and has worked as a Perry aide. According to the Patriot Group website, he was identified as a “Special Projects Director for Texas Governor Rick Perry.”

Documents show a secret donor funneled more than $500,000 to fund a Green Party signature gathering event. That led to a district court ruling to keep Green Party candidates from being on the November ballot.

Friday, the Supreme Court temporarily lifted that injunction, saying they could be on the ballot for now. The decision gives both parties more time to provide the Supreme Court with more information.

The deadline to file for the November ballot was Friday. Statewide coordinator with the Green Party, kat swift, identified Holm as the contributor back in March.

The Lone Star Project previously identified Dave Carney and Mike Toomey as other "Republican political operatives" involved.

Carney is Perry's top campaign strategist and Toomey was the former Chief of Staff for Perry.

“It’s time for Rick Perry to drop the double talk and acknowledge that those closest to his campaign have participated in a scandal. Rick Perry should fire Anthony Holm and the Patriot Group, fire Dave Carney and sever his ties with Mike Toomey,” Lone Star Project Director Matt Angle said.

Perry campaign spokesman Mark Miner told News 8 this is nothing more than a diversion by the Democrats to keep the focus off a failing candidate for governor, Bill White.

Holm also denies the allegations against him.
