The kickoff party for Austin Fashion Week was held at GSD&M, and I hear it was quite the soiree.

However, up in Pflugerville, a group of Austin designers were holding their own “secret” fashion show.

The 2010 Urban Decade Fashion Show featured collections from three unique and talented designers: T-Shirt Revolution by Angela Peace, La La Designs by Laisa Macias, and Haute Uzuri by Miss Teka.

I was super excited to get to go to this show for two reasons. One, my friend was walking in the show and she had said some pretty great things about the designer. Two, I always love seeing the offerings of local designers. Every time I see a new collection, I am continually amazed by the diversity of the designers in and around Austin.

To say the show exceeded my expectations is a huge understatement. The three collections definitely had an urban feel and a youthful look. However, each designer had something that really set them apart.

T-Shirt Revolution sent some really powerful pieces down the runway; they literally made a
statement.

The creator of La La Designs actually created her own fabric using photographs of graffiti she found around Austin; the fabric was a work of art.

Haute Uzuri had a contemporary feel with unexpected details that took every piece from being a nice outfit to being something beautiful and unique.

All of the models were gorgeous, and I feel like they really represented every shape, size and color of women. It was refreshing to see some curvy girls in there!

I absolutely enjoyed this show, and I am so looking forward to seeing what these amazing designers will come out with in the future.

As an added bonus, I won a prize in the raffle and I got to meet my favorite Austin radio personality Miss Kitty. All in all, it was a great way to start Austin Fashion Week!
