Capital Metro route changes start Sunday
Capital Metro will be rolling out some major bus routes changes beginning Sunday.

One of the biggest includes the 466 Kramer Route.

Cap Metro authorities say it will give MetroRail users an easier connection to places in North Austin, like the Domain.

Morning and afternoon trips will also be added on Route 101 between the North Lamar Transit Center and Downtown Austin.

Soon Capital MetroRail riders will have an easier connection to local employers and the Domain with the addition of the 466 Kramer Route. The new rail connector route is among many other changes that will take effect August 22, 2010 as a part of Capital Metro’s Fall Service Change.

• Other significant changes coming next Sunday include:

  • Route 101 morning and afternoon trips added between North Lamar Transit Center and Downtown Austin
  • Route 7 extension from Highland Mall to St. John’s neighborhood and Wal-Mart on Rutherford
  • Route 300 extension from Burton/Oltorf to South Congress Transit Center
  • New Route 323 serving Northeast Austin with improved frequency and connectivity to major destinations
  • New midday trip on Route 171 from the Oak Hill Park & Ride to the University of Texas campus
  • New afternoon trip on Route 970 between Oak Hill and downtown
  • Schedule and route adjustments that will improve connectivity between bus and rail service
  • Elimination of routes 9, 23, 29, 328 and 339 due to low ridership; however, some portions of these routes will be replaced with other service
  • The service changes are in accordance with Capital Metro’s Service Standards and based on recommendations from ServicePlan2020, a 10-year plan to improve bus service.

All of the changes, in addition to route schedules and maps, are contained in the new Destinations schedule book. Destinations is sold for just $1 at many H-E-B stores, at the Capital Metro Transit Store and online.
