A 29-year-old man is dead after a dispute at a North Austin apartment complex.

Austin police said they answered a disturbance call at the Whisper Woods complex near US-183 and I-35 around 1 a.m. Sunday.

Police discovered Franklin Alexander Calix Espinales in the apartment courtyard. He died at the hospital from a gunshot wound two hours later.

The gunman escaped into a nearby neighborhood. Police said he is considered armed and dangerous.

He is described as a Black male between 30 and 40-years-old. He is between 5’5” and 5’7” and weighs 200 – 220 pounds. He has very short hair or may be bald. He has gold teeth and was last seen wearing dark clothing.

Investigators said the two men may have had a disagreement while at a party.

"We believe that this person just walked up on this party. We don't know that there was any connection between the people at the party,” Austin Police Sgt. Scott Ehlert said.

Investigators are also looking for any information about a vehicle seen leaving the area at a high rate of speed after the shooting. It's described as a large, white, older-model, four-door car.

Anyone with information on this shooting is urged to call the homicide tip line at 512-477-3588.
