APD searching for woman who disappeared at bridge crossing
The Austin Police Department is still working to locate the woman who went missing after she attempted to pass over a flooded bridge at RM 2222 and Lakewood Drive Tuesday night.

Police said 51-year-old Jennifer Ring is known to drive a Lexus SUV, similar to the one that was swept into the water at the RM 2222-Bull Creek bridge.

Authorities said water had risen over the barricade of the RM 2222 bridge when two drivers attempted to cross it Tuesday night. The initial person drove past the barricades, over the bridge, and into the water. Rescue crews managed to save the first driver, who was found holding onto a tree.

The driver of the SUV crossed the barricade at the same time the initial rescue took place. An officer chased after the vehicle as the driver attempted to cross the bridge. Officials said her vehicle got stuck in the water and floated briefly before overturning and tumbling down into the creek.

Crews found the SUV, but have been unable to locate the missing driver. The Austin Fire Department said crews would search in a grid pattern from the area where the SUV was found, down to Lake Austin.

APD said it cannot confirm the driver's identity.
