Tropical Storm Hermine may have traded residents in the city of Holland their drinking water for its torrential rainfall.
The city’s main water line was located near a bridge on Armstrong Road in Salado. The force of floodwaters on Salado Creek took out both the bridge and the pipe.
“So the county and Central Texas Water are working on that, to repair the bridge and to put a water line back in service,” Mayor Mae Smith said.
The city said it remains uncertain how long repairs will take, but is handing out bottled water to its residents in the meantime.
