City council approves contract for Formula 1 track

Austin City Council members approved a multi-million dollar contract for the proposed Formula 1 racetrack in Travis County.
The $13 million will be used for water and wastewater lines. The site for the racetrack is southeast of the city.
The vote was unanimous, despite concerns raised recently about the impact on surrounding communities and the environment.
The racetrack should be up and running by 2012.
