Man charged in deadly San Marcos crash
San Marcos police have charged a Seguin man with intoxicated manslaughter and assault after a wreck that left one dead and three hospitalized Friday afternoon.
Police say 42-year-old Luis Besa was driving a pickup truck south on Highway 123 when his truck rear-ended a Cadillac waiting to turn.
The Cadillac was pushed into oncoming traffic, where it was broadsided by another truck and then hit by a Hummer. The driver of the Cadillac was taken to the University Medical Center Brackenridge with serious injuries.
The passenger, 58-year-old Alejandro Perez, was pronounced dead on the scene.
Several others who were injured were taken to a hospital in San Marcos. They've since been treated and released.
Besa is in a Hays County jail. His bond is set at $150,000.
