Friends of a woman killed in a hit-and-run accident took part in a memorial walk and run Saturday morning.

Courtney Griffin's friends, family and even complete strangers were invited to take part and bring their pets along.

Friends say she loved animals and was a frequent runner.

"From talking with some of her other friends, they just wanted to do something and I wanted to do something to just kind of honor her life,” runner Kyle Kemp said. “She was a runner and I know running, so it was just an easy connection."

Griffin, 30, was killed in late May when the driver of a black BMW struck her while she was walking home on Exposition Boulevard.

Police traced the car that struck Griffin to a legislative aide named Gabrielle Nestande. Nestande was charged with failure to render aid, and has since been released on bond.
