If you are seeking to adopt a pet this weekend, you’re in luck.

The Austin Human Society is holding a special this weekend in an effort to adopt out a total of 107 pets.

The program is called “107 Degrees of Love,” a call to the ongoing heat wave. The Human Society fulfilled half of the goal on Friday and offered the same deal on Saturday.

Among the pets available this weekend are a number of puppies born just weeks after Bastrop Authorities seized more than one-hundred and fifty dogs in an animal cruelty case.

The Austin Humane Society claims the raid on the Bastrop County home to be the worst animal hoarding case they have seen.

A Human Society representative wants the public to know adopting from a shelter helps lower the homeless pet population, while giving back to the efforts of the animal community.

"We're really excited to see the communities support today and yesterday as well. Lots and lots of adoptions this weekend and I think we're are getting the word out and definitely thank the community and have them keep that in mind to always come to a shelter instead going to a breeder," Lisa Starr with the Austin Humane Society said.
