Austin City Council members will take a field trip this week.
Wednesday morning, the Council will conduct a special meeting at the site of the
controversial Water Treatment Plant Number Four.
The project manager of WTP4 will be there to give the council members a briefing.
This is a follow up to an earlier vote by the Council to study the costs related to shutting down and postponing construction on the project.
The Mayor opposes the potential delay. He says the city's already spent $150M, and has another $4M in contractual obligations.
Council member Bill Spellman has said water demand is actually dropping, so a new plant may not be necessary.
No vote will be taken at Wednesday morning's meeting.
