It was a joyful day for the Munoz family who welcomed their new daughter, Angelina, to their family.

"Even though her life was kind of hard at first, from here on, hopefully it'll be a happy journey,” Irene Munoz said. “We look forward to seeing her growing bright and beautifully as she deserves as a little girl."

Having a permanent family and place to live is something many children in foster care never find. 15-year-old William Hohertz is glad he won’t have to age-out of the foster care system like so many others.

"It feels more permanent, so you're not going to have to move anywhere else and makes it so you don't have to worry about what's going to happen next," he said.

His new mother, Doris Hohertz, had never adopted before, but she and her husband were happy to welcome their three new sons into their lives.

"We should be aware of what's going on,” she said. “A lot of people adopt from other countries but we don't realize that it's here in our own backyards that we have all these kids at all ages that need a family to love."

Currently, there’s a daily average of 680 foster children in Central Texas waiting to be adopted.
