While the Baylor Bears are preparing in the locker room for the Alamo Bowl, fans in the parking lot outside are doing the same.

Tailgating is as much a part of college football as the game itself and, at the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio, tailgaters have their own gameplans.

"Last year I was here at 7:30 a.m. and I was second, and that made me mad so I got here at seven this morning and I waited until 10," Baylor fan Rick Compton said.

What is the perfect spot to set up? It has to do with much more than just proximity. Some spots come with extra space, allowing tailgaters extra room for their spread.

“You have so many parking spots, but that's like an extra parking spot,” Compton said. “You can put the pit up there, you can sit up there.

The Alamo Bowl presents Baylor University with an opportunity to win its first Bowl game in more than a decade. Kickoff is at 8:00 p.m.
