Early morning shooting leaves 1 dead in South Austin

Police said the shooting happened at about 12:44 a.m. in the 1500 block of Canon Yeoman’s Trail.
The victim, 17-year-old Mark Brandon Dominguez, and his two brothers had left their home in the area to investigate noises that they believed to be someone breaking into a car.
While outside, Dominguez encountered the suspect and was shot.

Dominguez was transported to University Medical Center Brackenridge before dying as a result of his wound.
During the investigation, police found two armed juveniles matching the suspects’ descriptions in a taxi cab nearby. Both were arrested and transported to Gardner Betts Juvenile Justice Center.
One of the juveniles has been charged with murder, a first degree felony, and unlawful carrying of a weapon. The other suspect has been charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon.
This is Austin’s third murder of 2012.
